How Does It Work?
First Meeting
You will be asked to give an honest assessment of cycling goals, competitive priorities, available time, discussion of any previous coaching experiences, current training program, and most current racing successes or failures.
Approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours
Second Meeting
The performance assessment sets the groundwork for a successful athlete/coach relationship.
Assessment of Athlete’s Current Fitness
General Assessment: This program includes body composition analysis using Tanita Inner Scan Body Composition Monitor (Note: this is not considered a medical test! This information is used for training guidelines only) — basic strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and body balance.
On-Bike: These tests are conducted using Racermate’s SpinScan software and your bike. They are a mix of Joe Friel’s Critical Power and Andrew Coggan/Hunter Allen’s Power Profiling.
The results of these tests are combined with body weight result in a Power Profile and a measure against your competitive set. While these tests focus on power output, a key measure of cycling strength, they also provide information to set a cyclist’s perceived exercision rate, heart rate training zones, and pedaling efficiency.
Approximately 2 to 3 hours
